• Tufts University has named Mary Roberts to its fall 2007 Dean’s List. Students named to list must take a full course load and maintain a grade-point average of 3.4 or higher.

• Knox County 4-H Horse and Pony Club will offer as riding clinic from 9 a.m., to 4 p.m., Monday, Feb. 18, at Roane State Community Colleges Indoor Riding Arena. Clinic will give all 4-H members the opportunity to learn, practice and ride in the indoor arena, and will offer a tremendous amount of instruction and hands-on training. Bring your horse, your parents, or just come by and enjoy the day. All youth grades 4-12 are encouraged to attend, as well as all surrounding 4-H clubs. Price of clinic is $15. • David Williams announces the 16th annual Mathmindedness contest is underway. Contest is free and and open to all area students of high school age and under. Entrants must solve math problems and answer questions about math history, persons, and events. The winner and top finishers will earn math-related prizes and the opportunity to part in a television commercial. • Five Farragut and Bearden area students were honored as Eagle Scouts at a Troop 141 Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony held Saturday, Jan. 12. Students from Farragut High School were: Nickolas “Nick” Anthony Bartosik and George Martin Stephens III. Bearden High School Honorees were: Travis Edward Haston and Ian Scott Turnbull. Honored from Tennessee Tech University was Andrew Addison Hamil.

• Teachers can register their middle school teams in grades six through eight to compete in the 2008 Energy Bowl at the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge. Registration deadline for middle school teams is Friday, Feb. 8. The 2008 Energy Bowl is a single-elimination, grade level competition for all public, private and home-school teams of four members plus alternates. Tournament, similar to the College Bowl concept, is slated for sixth-grade Tuesday, March 4, seventh-grade Wednesday, March 5 and eighth-grade Thursday, March 6. • Five Star Admirals Service Club will hold its third annual Scholastic Book Fair Monday, Feb. 11, through Friday, Feb. 15, at Farragut Middle School’s Studio Theatre.

• DiversityAbroad.com and Am-erican Institute for Foreign Study announce the creation of the DiversityAbroad.com Summer Schol-arship sponsored by AIFS, offering $10,000 in scholarships to deserving, under-represented students. The scholarships are being given to students who meet criteria and are to be used for studying abroad in the summer of 2008. Diversity Abroad was founded to ensure that minority and other under-represented students are aware of and have access to international study and exchange opportunities. • Hardin Valley Academy an-nounces the addition of two more staff members. Rachel Bruun will take on the roll of guidance counselor and Carloyn Carter will be joining HVA in January as a secretary to the guidance office.

• Pellissippi State Technical Community College Foundation announces the completion of its dollar-for-dollar Challenge Grant from U.S. Department of Education. Foundation raised required funds of $362,000. USDE matched each dollar. Funds will be used toward scholarships, equipment and other areas of need.

• Knoxville Museum of Art will dispay an ehibit of ceramic bowls made by Webb Lower School students in the month of February.

• Greenway School invites interested families to tour and meet itsfaculty at a Visitors' Open House from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24th. No reservation is necessary to attend.
